Wheels, ships and journeys
Vehicles on the road, goods on the move and people travelling abroad. Each has its own rules, and each is cheaper to get right before the trip than after the loss.
Motor
Who it is forPrivate car owners, business fleets, commercial and public-service vehicle operators
Third-party only cover is the legal minimum in Kenya. Comprehensive cover adds damage to your own vehicle and, depending on the policy, theft and fire. Fleet policies put many vehicles under one plan, with one renewal date. Use of the vehicle (private, commercial, hire) changes the cover and the price.
Questions we will ask
- What is the vehicle worth today, and how is it used?
- Who drives it, and how experienced are they?
- Where is it parked overnight?
Have ready: Logbook copy, valuation if required, driver details, previous insurer and claims record.
Marine & goods in transit
Who it is forImporters, exporters, traders, hauliers and manufacturers who ship goods by sea, air or road
Covers cargo against loss or damage while it moves. The cover you need depends on who carries the risk at each stage of the journey, which depends on your sale terms. We check that before we place it.
Questions we will ask
- What is being shipped, how is it packed and how much is it worth?
- What is the route, and who carries the risk at each stage?
- Is this a single shipment or a regular flow?
Have ready: Commercial invoice, packing list, transport document, and the sale terms with your buyer or supplier.
Travel
Who it is forHoliday, business and study travellers, and their families
Covers emergency medical treatment abroad, trip delays and cancellations, lost or delayed baggage and emergency assistance. Many embassies ask for proof of medical cover before issuing a visa. Schengen states, for example, require at least €30,000 of cover.
Questions we will ask
- Where are you going, for how long and on what dates?
- Who is travelling, and how old are they?
- Do you have a medical condition, or plan any adventure activity?
Have ready: Passport details, trip dates and itinerary, embassy requirements if you are applying for a visa.
What a policy pays depends on its schedule, limits and exclusions, and these differ between insurers. We read them with you before you buy. Nothing on this page is an offer of cover.
